TOWARDS EXPO 2010 SHANGHAI CHINA
The Shanghai Expo 2010 revolves around the theme of “Better city, better life”, and will be held from the 1st of May to the 31st October, 2010. More than 200 countries will be present, as well as various International Organisations. Each country has been assigned a national day: San Marino's will be on the 4th of June, 2010. The 2010 World Expo, which expects to attract more than 70 million visitors, will highlight different realities regarding development, advanced city planning concepts and new approaches regarding human habitats (innovative lifestyles, new work conditions) in order to encourage and promote sustainable development between different communities in civilized societies. In the light of San Marino's participation at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, where it will have its own pavilion, the Azienda Autonoma di Stato Filatelica e Numismatica will issue a stamp: “Towards Shanghai 2010”. In the forefront, the Pudong skyline, a district in the Chinese city of Shanghai, including the Shanghai World Financial Center, also known as the “bottle opener” due to its unique shape, and emblem of the Shanghai Expo 2010. Above, to the right, inset the spectacular China Pavilion, built inside the Shanghai Expo. It is a pavilion inspired by the ancient wooden buildings in Ancient China, it is also named "Oriental Crown".
