2012 International Year of sustainable energy for all

ONU declared the 2012 International Year of sustainable energy for all. Its General Secretary, Ban Ki-Moon, commented on the initiative and warned: “The lack of energy must finish, we shall have the possibility to switch on the light in all houses, to reduce poverty and give everyone an opportunity, to lead the economic stimulus and fight climatic changes”. To make public opinion aware and lead the governments decisions towards the theme of sustainability is the main goal of ONU General Assembly by resolution 65/151. This represents a precious opportunity to reach three aims within 2030: universal access to modern services; doubling of global energy efficiency: doubling of renewable energy. In short aeolian, sun, hydroelectric and marine, from biomasses and geothermal. A clear message which is well represented in the four stamps of San Marino. The designer is Franco Filanci, one of the most prolific author of stamps and philatelic books and now President of ‘Accademia italiana di filatelia e storia postale’. Franco Filanci cooperates with AASFN since many years and in these four “artworks” he translated into images the key concepts fixed by the Onu Secretary to make a global revolution: a new idea of clean energy considered as common good able to promote the development of Third World Countries in a sustainable and peaceful way. From Onu to the Republic of San Marino. A way of common goals towards the new world.
