Centenary of Gianni Widmer landing

On the 16th April 1913 the pilote Gianni Widmer reached 1600 meters of altitude and was therefore invested with gold medal. He flew from Rimini to san Marino, Monte Carlo (m. 508). AASFN dedicates a commemorative stamp to this event. In the stamp designed by Giovanni Cremonini there is in the foreground the memory stone made by the sculptor Carlo Reffi with the inscription of Pietro Franciosi. The stone was positioned on the tableland of Monte Carlo, where on the 16th April 1913 the landing took place after a flight of eleven minutes. In the background the mount Titano and next the stone a nice portrait of the pilot Gianni Widmer and the French monoplane, the only coloured element of the stamp.
