120 Years of Genoa Cricket and Football Club

AASFN celebrates the 120th anniversary of the Genoa Cricket and Football Club with a philatelic set. The stamp reproduces the original writing that dates back to the 7th September 1893, when a group of English men founded the team at the British consulate in Genoa. In the background the Stadium of Marassi dedicated to Luigi Ferraris, a famous captain of the beginning of the 20th century. The set shows the official shield of the team with the griffon in the centre, the choreography of the northern terrace of the stadium on the left and a picture of Sir James R. Spensley on the right. Under his leadership the team of Genoa won the Italian soccer championships in 1898 - 1899 - 1900 - 1902 - 1903 - 1904.
