2 Euro commemorative uncirculated coin 2013 - “500th anniversary of the death of Pinturicchio”

The Azienda Autonoma di Stato Filatelica e Numismatica dedicates the 2 euro commemorative coin 2013 to the famous painter Pinturicchio. This nickname was due to his height. He was original, endowed with a strong decorative style and he blended innovative and Gothic elements, Renaissance tradition and Flemish inspiration. The 2 euro coin, designed by Claudia Momoni, reproduces a detail of the painting where Jesus debates with the doctors in the Baglioni chapel of the Chuch of S. Maria Maggiore in Spello. This chapel is one of the most harmonious work of art by Pinturicchio with the Annunciation, the Nativity and the four Sibyls.
