2 Euro commemorative uncirculated coin “750th anniversary of the birth of Dante”

Durante di Alighiero degli Alighieri, known as Dante, was born in Florence between the 22nd May and the 13rd June 1265. He was the poet par excellence for his use of an universal language. The Republic of San Marino celebrates the 750th anniversary of the birth of Dante with a 2 Euro commemorative uncirculated coin. The obverse of the coin designed by Annalisa Masini depicts the portrait of Dante, taken from a fresco by Botticelli, combined with a writing inspired by the initial letters of the first copyists of the Divina Commedia.
