Code 636: Jubilee of mercy

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Pope Francis announced an Extraordinary Jubilee from the 8th December 2015 until 20th November 2016. In the Bull of indiction the Pope highlights that the Holy Year of Mercy has at its centre the mercy of God whose love opens towards the world and becomes a commitment of charity. During the Holy Year of Mercy the Pope intends to make significant gestures in order to reach the existential suburbs of humanity and give evidence of the proximity to the poor. The philatelic set dedicated to the Jubilee of mercy is made up of 4 values that represent the greeting of the Pope, the opening of the Holy Gate of the Basilica of St Peter, the Pope who kisses a sick child in Kenya and tends his hand towards the refugees in the Central African Republic.
